Information we use

We use camper account, contact, billing, vehicle, emergency-contact, maintenance, event, and electric-usage information to operate the campground and provide portal services.

Payments

Payment-card information is collected and stored by Stripe. Bur Oaks receives payment status and limited card details, such as brand and last four digits, but does not store complete card numbers.

Camper directory

The directory is optional. Campers are hidden by default. If you opt in, signed-in campers may see your name and lot number. Your phone number appears only if you separately choose to share it.

Maintenance photos and documents

Maintenance photos are stored privately and are available only to the submitting camper and authorized campground staff. Account documents are limited to the assigned camper and authorized administrators.

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand website visits, referring sources, device and browser information, and interactions such as calls, directions, review links, and membership inquiries. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar browser storage. We use this information in aggregate to improve the website and do not sell this information. You can restrict cookies through your browser settings.

Website live chat

Our public website may use tawk.to to provide live chat and receive messages when campground staff are offline. If you use the chat, tawk.to processes the information you choose to provide, along with technical information needed to operate and secure the chat service, such as device, browser, IP address, and chat-session information. Do not send payment-card numbers, passwords, medical information, or other highly sensitive information through website chat.

Chat messages may be reviewed by authorized Bur Oaks staff to answer questions, follow up on requests, prevent abuse, and improve campground service. Live chat is intended for general questions and is not monitored for emergencies.

Your choices

You may update your profile, directory preference, and AutoPay enrollment through the portal. Contact the campground office to request access, correction, or deletion of other account information, subject to legal and operational recordkeeping requirements.

Text messaging privacy

If you opt in to SMS text alerts, we use your phone number to send non-marketing campground operational messages such as invoice notices, payment reminders, account notices, maintenance updates, sewer pump-out updates, gate notices, utility notices, office notices, safety notices, and weather-related operational alerts.

We do not sell, rent, buy, trade, or share SMS opt-in information, phone numbers, or text messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing, promotional, lead-generation, or advertising purposes. SMS consent is used only for Bur Oaks Campground communications. Service providers may process messages only as needed to deliver campground communications.

You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP. You can request help by replying HELP.

How SMS consent is collected

Campers opt in only after signing into the Bur Oaks Camper Portal. SMS consent is not collected through a lease, paper form, verbal conversation, directory setting, payment authorization, or bundled account agreement. The opt-in checkbox appears on the camper Profile page and the Invoices page near the saved phone number and text-alert settings. A public explanation of the SMS consent process is available at www.buroakscampground.com/sms-consent.

The checkbox states that by checking it, the camper agrees to receive SMS messages from Bur Oaks Campground about invoices, payment reminders, account notices, maintenance updates, sewer pump-out updates, gate notices, utility notices, office notices, safety notices, weather-related operational alerts, and other non-marketing campground account or operations notices. The checkbox also states that message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, campers can reply HELP for help, and campers can reply STOP to opt out.

SMS consent is optional and is not required to stay at Bur Oaks or use the camper portal.

Security and retention

We use access controls and service providers to protect portal data. Information is retained only as long as reasonably needed for campground operations, accounting, safety, and legal obligations.
